Is anyone else’s skin suffering from this crazy back and forth weather? The constant change from freezing cold to hot has my skin in a tizzy. When the temperature is changing as dramitcally as we have seen it the past few weeks it is so important to take extra special care of your skin. I’m a creature of habit, but when it comes to skincare, I like to switch things up based on the weather, how my skin is feeling, and the time of day I am applying it. We have all dealt with flakey dry skin or oily skin from time to time and I am here to tell you about my most loved Moisturizers to help keep your skin healthy.
Heres a roundup of moisturizers from A-Z on the price and benefit scale:
This is an oldie but a goodie. I have friends with oily skin and friends with dry skin that use it and both love it. Personally, I am picky about when I apply it because it is a bit heavier. I like to apply this at night so my face stays hydrated while I sleep and has plenty of time to really soak int. A bottle is around $30 but the reason I am putting it in the low cost category is because a little goes a long way and these tubes last FOREVER. PSSST….a secret about this moisturizer is that it is great to mix with your foundation during the winter months when you need a lighter shade but don’t want to drop $$$ on another foundation and the added benefit is that it will keep your face covered underneath your makeup. and hydrated all day.
Daywear is my favorite moisturizer to wear obviously during the day. I like to apply it right after I wash my face in the morning and let it dry for 5-10 minutes before applying my makeup. I buy about one tub a year so although it is a little more expensive than you might like to spend, a little goes a long way and if you are applying a small amount, it will last you for an extended period of time. The greatest benefit is that it is not only moisturizing, but it also diminishes signs of aging. Bye-bye wrinkles!
Creme De La Mer : $$$$
- The Moisturizing Creme
- The Moisturizing Soft Lotion
To be honest I hesitated sharing this one because I am sure like me, most of you are in your 20’s on a tight budget and are not about to sell a kidney just to buy a moisturizer. But, it is noteworthy and if your mom has some I recommend sneaking it out of her cabinet and into yours. This miracle working formula has a laundry list of benefits from moisturizing, to healing. Yes I said it, healing. If you have a scar, newer rather than older, and you massage it with a little dot of this I swear to you it will minimize it, flatten it, and 9 chances out of 10, heal it. If you have not read the story behind La Mer, you should, because it is fascinating and will explain what makes this jar of skincare so special.
All my ladies listen up, this stuff is so good it was out of stock for months… globally! This pink jelly is great for all skin types, but really good for dehydrated skin. It is super light weight, but has a huge punch of moisture to reinvigorate your skin. The downside is that this doesn’t last as long as some of the other recommendations I have made, but if you suffer from dry skin I promise it is worth every penny.
I do not want you to write this one off because of the price. A jar will last a year, at least, because you only need a tiny bit to apply and there is a ton in each tub. GLAMGLOW is rocking the skincare world, especially with all of their most recent launches, which if you have not seen them, you should go check out their instagram. Waterburst is my guilty pleasure, yes I have a guilty pleasure moisturizer. Why, you ask? Well, because I kid you not, for all my 90’s babies, it smells like lip smackers cotton candy chapstick. Rub some of this on your face for 72 hours of continuous hydration without even having to reapply.
If you haven’t heard of Glossier than I am concerned you might be living under a rock. Their millennial pink bubble bags have become an icon of affordable beauty. I am honestly not a fan of any of their makeup, but this moisturizer is heavenly. It is infused with lavender, so you are sure to feel extra relaxed and ready for a good nights sleep if you apply right before bed. This is a creme, so it is a bit heavier. I recommend using this as a night time moisturizer. If you have rosacea or a red tone to your face, this is great because one of its benefits is anti-redness. Lather up for to calm down, zen out and leave your face feeling all the love.
All of these moisturizers can be used during the winter and summer, it is all about what works best for you. I like to switch up my moisturizer based on the seasons, but if you only find one you like, stick to it. Now, go wash your face and get on Sephora to order the moisturizer you want to add to your skincare lineup.
